Betty M. Finsterbush

June 16, 1929 — July 27, 2015

Betty Margaret Finsterbush, 86, of Penns Creek Road, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 27, 2015, at her residence with her children by her side.

She was born on June 16, 1929 in Limestone Twp, Union County, a daughter of the late John Samuel and Martha Mabel (Baker) Mitchel.  On October 7, 1950, in Lewisburg she married Robert Elwood Finsterbush, who passed away on January 10, 2002.

Betty graduated from Mifflinburg High School class of 1946.  She attended Lock Haven University, Penn State University, and Bloomsburg University.  She graduated from Williamsport Area Community College in 1979.

She was a very faithful participant in the body of Christ at West End Bible Fellowship. She had previously attended the Sound of Gospel Church.  Betty had heart of evangelicalism.  She served as a Sunday school teacher, led a community bible study, started a candle club, assisted with Good News Club, and gave daily encouragement on Facebook.

Betty was a licensed practical nurse.  She worked for Friendly Nursing Home, the Selinsgrove Center, and RiverWoods, retiring in 1992.

She was a master gardener and enjoyed crocheting afghan blankets for her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are five children and their spouses; Thomas Elwood and Kathy Finsterbush of Mifflinburg, Pamela Jane Lamey of Selinsgrove, Lori A. Yacko and companion William Kisling of Spring Mills, Diane R. and Scott Heintzelman of Mifflinburg, Carson D. and Dianna Finsterbush of Mifflinburg, 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one sister, Joanna Danglovtch of Mifflinburg, and one brother, David Mitchell of Soldotna, AK.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Mitchel, John S, Mitchel, Jr, one sister, Dorothy M. Kessler, one infant grandson, and one great grandson, Cruz Walter.

There will be no public viewing.  Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday at West End Bible Fellowship, 19200 Old Turnpike Road, Millmont, where the funeral will be held at 11, with the Rev. Richard L. DeVett, officiating.

Interment will be in the Hill Top Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty`s memory may be sent to the West End Bible Fellowship, PO Box 36, Laurelton PA, 17835.
