Christian T. Cochran

May 4, 1985 — May 28, 2016

Christian T. Cochran, 30, Lewisburg, left this world on May 27 as peacefully as he could after suffering from a long illness.

Christian was born December 4, 1985. There was not before or after, a more stunningly angelic child.

As a boy Christian was obsessed with recording everything, it was his photo album of choice. He was also passionate about science, 4H Camp, rocketry, Hess trucks, animals and writing (he was published at 14).

Christian loved music, literature and travel. He was an avid fan of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, not only enjoying the theatrical performance, but the composition as well. He found that musical composition could express feelings in a way he could not verbalize. He also loved the sound of surf and the call of seagulls.

He adored the family dogs, Honey and Moses and spoiled them at every opportunity. His connection to animals brought him deep satisfaction. They offered him love without judgment: something he found lacking in human relations.

Christian was the first person to offer a hand, support or help to anyone, at anytime, anywhere.  He was an especially good listener and offered his ear to more than can be counted. He thrived on doing for others and found great joy in it.

His empathy for others was boundless. He was a champion of civil liberties, civil rights and the dignity of humanity, regardless of nationality, race, sexual orientation, color, sex, class or ability. He hated injustice of any kind.  Because he held those views, he was proud to be a diehard liberal Democrat.

For a time, he considered Millersville his home. For the past several years Lewisburg has been his home and he enjoyed living there and walking to the Cherry Alley Cafe, CVS, Subway and other local restaurants.  He loved going to the Evangelical gym and taking yoga classes. He was proud to be a Sudharma Certified Yoga Instructor.

He loved holidays and celebrations and began the countdown to Christmas on December 26. The Hallmark Ornament premier was a favorite day of the year for him.

In lieu of flowers, Christian would want you to be kinder, more compassionate, less judgmental and more understanding. He would want you to do so with each other, to strangers, to those you may not agree with or understand, and to the animals in your care. If the loss of his life can do that, even in a small way, he would be satisfied to have that be his legacy.

If you still feel inclined toward flowers, plant some in his honor. He would like that very much.

He will be forever missed by his parents, Paula and Kevin Cochran, Mifflinburg as well as by his sister and brother in law, Lauren and Adam Wray, Millmont. His dear nieces, Emma and Georgia Wray, will have to grow up knowing him only through stories and pictures. They will, also, now have to learn how to fix their toys without him. He is also survived by his grandmother, Janet Smith, his Aunt Barb Nistor, his Uncle Jim Lindemuth and Aunt Anne Scheiber, and his cousins Paige, Matthew and Michael Nistor. He is also survived by friends from around the globe with whom he shared game nights, intimate conversation and online laughter.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday at the Dominick T. Adamo Funeral Home, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg, where a time of remembrance will be celebrated at 2 pm.  Family and friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories.
