Edwin G. Pedersen

March 22, 1924 — May 6, 2017

Edwin G. Pedersen, 93, of Lewisburg went home to be with his Lord and all those who arrived ahead of him at 11:30 PM on Saturday, May 06, 2017 at RiverWoods.

He was born on March 22, 1924 in Laurens, New York, the son of the late Jorgen and Maria (Pedersen) Pedersen.  On October 04, 1986, he married the former Sharon S. Stillman, who survives.

Ed was one of ten children and spent the first seven years of his life in Dannebrog, NE.  Because of the drought in Nebraska, they moved back east to Vineland, NJ.  He graduated high school in 1941 and enlisted in the Army on March 10, 1943 serving until his honorable discharge on February 8, 1946.

After returning he attended a special meeting where he accepted Christ as his personal Savior.  That changed the course of his life.  He went to Philadelphia School of the Bible, where he met Bernice Weikel; they married and graduated in 1950.  They had three children and joined South America Mission to serve God for the next 40 years in a very primitive tribe in Brazil.  Bernice passed away in February of 1985.  After remarrying in 1986, he and Sharon continued to serve the Lord together, seven more years in Brazil and twenty-two years in central Pennsylvania.

He was a volunteer for the Yokefellow Prison Ministry, he served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Mifflinburg for a year, he helped in the Good News Club with Child Evangelism for 13 years, served as a deacon, did visitation, was in the choir, and generally shared his faith with those he came in contact with.

He enjoyed reading, making clocks for all of his children and grandchildren plus many friends, He enjoyed God’s creation but most of all he found pleasure studying the Word of God and getting to know his Savior more intimately.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon S. Pedersen of 30 years, one son and daughter-in-law, David and Dianne Pedersen of Hendersonville, NC, two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Rick Heindselman of Newna, GA, Rachael and Dave Powell of Peru, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, mother-in-law, Winnotta Reynolds of Herman, ME, brother-in-law Harland Stillman and wife Sharon of Hampden, ME, brother-in-law, Gerald Stillman and wife Dottie of Palermo, ME, sister-in-law, Alda Botbyl of Quarryville and many nephews and nieces.
