George Albert Miller

July 31, 1926 — October 28, 2016

George “Albert” Miller, 90, of Olney, MD became one of Heaven’s angels at 09:08 AM on Friday, October 28, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on July 31, 1926 in Limestone Twp., Union County, the son of the late John Earl and Mary Rachel (Dauberman) Miller.  On June 21, 1947, he married the love of his life the former Ruby Irene Duke, who passed away on January 16, 2015.

Albert was a 1943 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.  He earned a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University in 1950.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII until his honorable discharge on June 24, 1946.

George worked as a Systems Engineer for IBM Corporation for 39 years.

He was a member of the Ashton United Methodist Church, where he was chair of the Administrative Council, a junior high Sunday school teacher, where he made a significant impact on the lives of many teens of the church.  He was actively involved alongside his wife Ruby, with the Missions Team, for over 40 years.

Albert was a member of Sandy Spring, Maryland Lions Club, where he held the office of President for two years, and was also a member of American Legion Post #68.

He enjoyed gardening, traveling, helping others, but most importantly spending time with his family.  He often said the best job he ever had was taking care of his wife Ruby.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, George A. Miller, Jr. of Olney, MD, Carl and Donna Miller of Vero Beach, FL, two daughters and one son-in-law, Patti Robertson of Martinsburg, WV, Teena and Neil Wilkin, Jr. of Roanoke, VA, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and one sister, Dorothy Leinicke of Ellisville, MO.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday  at the Mifflinburg First Church of the Nazarene, 12 East Market St, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 3, with the Rev. Wayne Krell, officiating.

Interment will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery, immediately following the service.
