Paul C. Goss

January 6, 1924 — March 29, 2016

Paul C. Goss, 92, of 198 Market Street, Mifflinburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior, at 10:40 AM on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on January 06, 1924 in Beavertown, the son of the late Clayton Ralph and Mazzie Minerva (Zechman) Goss.  On January 1, 1946, he married the former Bertha M. Scholl, who preceded him in death on December 6, 2013.  Together, they shared nearly 68 years of joyous memories.

Paul attended school in Beavertown.  He attended bible school at Intercessions City Bible College.

He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Mifflinburg, where he was a former church board member.

Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 23, 1943 serving in WWII until his honorable discharge on December, 1, 1945.  During his five campaigns he earned the good conduct medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 bronze Stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.

Paul was a truck driver, starting with Beavertown Block and then with Agway, where he retired in 1987.

Paul was a member of and was past president of the Central Pennsylvania Gospel Band, serving from 1967-1992.  He played the tuba in the gospel band and later taught his talent of playing the tuba to his grandson, Matt.

He always enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons.

Paul was man of faith and could always be found reading his bible in the morning.  He loved to spend time with his family.  He enjoyed playing games and putting puzzles together, reading newspapers, and watching TV.  He also enjoyed doing landscaping around the house.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law; John P. and Rachel A. Goss of Middleburg and James L. Goss of Elizabethtown, one grandson and two grand-daughters; Matthew J. Goss and wife, Kimberly, Shannon J. Goss-Brown and husband, Christopher, and Shauna K. Rute and husband Michael, great-grandchildren; Isabella, Caleb, Eli, Lilah and Adeline, three step grandchildren, Alexis Rute, Tyler Rute, and David Rute, two sisters-in-law, Mary Rauch, LaRay Scholl, one brother-in-law; Herbert Oberlin,and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Russell Goss, one sister, Patsy Oberlin, a sister in infancy, one grand-daughter and a great grandson.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday and from 10 to 11 am on Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 12 East Market Street, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 11, with Rev. Wayne S. Krell, officiating.

Interment will be in the Beavertown God's Missionary Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul`s memory may be sent to Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, 12 E. Market Street, Mifflinburg, Pa 17844.
