Walda Mae Vrescak

November 30, 1938 — September 7, 2015

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Walda Mae Vrescak, of Coal Center, PA entered into eternal rest at 5:22 AM on Monday, September 7, 2015 surrounded by her family at her daughter’s residence in Mifflinburg, PA.  She was 76 years old.

Walda was born on November 30, 1938 in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Clarence Kenneth and Margaret (Stockton) Brewer.  On January 25, 1958, she married her life-long sweetheart, George David Vrescak.  They celebrated 52 years of marriage before George passed away on December 31, 2010.

Walda graduated from California Area High School with high honors in 1956, and Feusters Cosmetology School in Charleroi in 1957.  She also worked as a beautician at Feusters Beauty Shop in Charleroi, PA for a few years.

Walda’s life-long joy was loving and caring for her husband, children and grandchildren.

During her early years, Walda attended Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Long Branch, PA with the rest of her family. After their marriage, George and Walda became members of Riverside Tabernacle, Monongahela, PA.  During the past 15 years they served as members of The Orchard Fellowship Christian Church in Monessen, PA.  Walda served many years as Missionary Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, and church pianist.

Walda enjoyed spending time with her family, flower gardening at her country home, playing the piano, sewing, and bird watching in the back yard.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Una Jean and Daniel LaPre of Purcellville, VA, Luann and Lynn Sholley of Mifflinburg, PA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Warren D. and Kelly Vrescak of Roanoke, VA, Julius L. and Rebecca Vrescak of Bell Vernon, PA; seven grandchildren, Jonathan LaPre, Jordan and Christian Vrescak, Shelby and Bryce Vrescak, Lauren White, Sara Ansell; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clarice K. Wineland of Coal Center, PA and Barbara Manzini of Florida.

Walda was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Helen Vrescak, in November 1958.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 10th and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Friday, September 11th at The Orchard Christian Fellowship Christian Church, 721 Schoonmaker Ave., Monessen, PA.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Custer officiating.
