Morris Charles Hoffman

Morris C. Hoffman, of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.  Born in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, in 1934, Morris was the eighth of nine children born to Morris F. Hoffman and Minnie V. Hoffman (née Laudenslager).

Morris earned degrees from Millersville University and Western Maryland College, and completed work at the doctoral level at the University of Maryland.

Morris worked for more than 40 years in York, Pennsylvania, and Baltimore County, Maryland, school systems.  He held positions as teacher, department chairperson, assistant principal, principal, and central office administrator.  After retiring from Baltimore County Public Schools, Morris worked with Bucknell University graduate students in the Education Department’s school administration program.  He would want his graduate students to know that he considered his work with them to be the most rewarding and fulfilling of his professional career.

Morris is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Lynn.  He leaves behind two children from his prior marriage: Mark (Rosa) and Eric (Gretchen).  Morris is also survived by his two step-children, Sean (Sybil) and Erin (Sid).  Morris also leaves behind five grandchildren: Stephanie, Kristen, Jacob, Braeden, Eliza, and Theodore.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents and five of his siblings: Baby Hoffman, Helen, Arlene, Frances, and Herman.  He is survived by his brothers, Howard and Arthur, and his sister, Evelyn.  Morris leaves behind friends and a large extended family; he will be missed at the annual Hoffman Family Reunion.

Morris’ wife, Lynn, would like to thank those aides, technicians, and nurses who compassionately tended to Morris’ health and happiness at the end of his life.  She would also like to thank Beverly Hoffman, of Faith Lutheran Church, who provided tireless support to her, Morris, and Erin.

Family and friends are invited to Faith Lutheran Church, 2349 Old Turnpike Road/Route 45, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania 17837, on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, to celebrate Morris’ life.  Visitation with the family will be held from 10-11 AM, with a service presided over by the Reverend John Yost immediately thereafter.
