Alvah Leroy Smith, 93, of Mifflinburg entered into rest Thursday, January 28, 2021 at his residence surrounded by family.

Born on December 21, 1927 in New Castle, a son of the late William J. Smith and Ruth Edna Smith. On May 20, 1950, he married the former Anna Reber, who preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Shenango High School, and Benjamin Franklin Trade School both located in New Castle.

He served in the US Army during World War II with the military police.

Alvah was a machinist having worked for American Home Foods and Clemmens Machine Shop, Milton.

He was a member of the Mifflinburg Alliance Church.

In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around the house.

Surviving is one daughter, Louann R. Benfer of Mifflinburg, one son and daughter-in-law, Alvie W. and Karen S. Smith of Mifflinburg; eight grandchildren and spouses, Ryan and Rebecca McAfee, Robert and Beth O'Connell, Benjamin and Amanda Benfer, Brythan Benfer, Kevin and Johanna Klinger, Isaac and Beth Smith, Rev. Shane and Emily Chamberlin, Aimee Smith; five great grandchildren, Calvin, David, Eva, Nathan, and Wayne; two sisters, Barbara Siemond of Pittsburgh, and Joyce Badger of Arkansa.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Leona Burk and a son-in-law, Pastor David L. Benfer.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Zion Church Reformed Cemetery, Kratzerville with Pastor Donald Hewlett and Pastor Shane Chamberlin, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by veteran's from American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964 both of Mifflinburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alvah`s memory may be sent to Hospice of Evangelical, 235 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
