Dorothy Dittmeier

March 26, 1928 — October 13, 2018

Dorothy Dittmeier, 90, of Mifflinburg since 1989, formerly of Farmingdale, NY entered into rest on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.

She was born on March 26, 1928 in Brooklyn, a daughter of the late Peter and Emma (Selinski) Bastian.  On November 03, 1945, she married the former Carl A. Dittmeier, who preceded her in death.

Dorothy was homemaker and in her younger years she worked as a baker.

She was a member of St. George Roman Catholic Church, Mifflinburg.  Her faith was very important to her and was known as a prayer warrior.  When living in Farmingdale she spent the majority of time serving at St. Kilians Parish.

She was also a member of the Mifflinburg Historical Society, and Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society.

Dorothy loved to garden and decorate her home. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.  She was fondly known as “Nanny” to many.

Surviving is one daughter, Patricia Carroll of Mifflinburg, one son, Kenneth Spero of Denver, CO, three grandchildren, Cortney Guinn of New Fairfield, CT, Allison Leonard of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Andrew Carroll of Mifflinburg, five grandchildren, Michael, Travis, Thomas, Timothy, Elizabeth, one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Marie Dittmeier of Farmingdale, NY; and she is survived by numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Bastian, and a son- in-law, George Carroll.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Adamo’s, 16 Walnut Street, Mifflinburg.  The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 am at St. George Roman Catholic Church, 775 Buffalo Road, Mifflinburg, with Rev. Mark Wilke, as celebrant.

The Rite of Committal will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy`s memory may be sent to a charity of one's choice.
