Naomi Ruth Peachey

February 18, 1922 — September 16, 2017

Naomi Ruth Peachey, 95, of Mifflinburg entered into rest on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Riverwoods, where she had been a resident since January.

She was born on February 18, 1922 in Aspers, a daughter of the late Raymond Shenk Mayer and Mary Jane (Doerr) Mayer.  On December 14, 1942, she married Christian C. Peachey, who preceded her in death on October 6, 2002 breaking a marital union just short of 60 years.

Naomi graduated from Biglerville High School in 1941.

She was a homemaker and also worked as a cook at Rock Oak Family Restaurant.  She enjoyed gardening, attending sewing circle with her church friends, and knitting leprosy bandages for MCC (Mennonite Central Committee).  She cooked and entertained many friends and family on a regular basis.  People still comment on her roast beef and her tasty pies.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law; Kenneth W. of Mifflinburg,  C. David and Carol A. Peachey of Mifflinburg, John and Naomi Peachey of Turbotville, seven daughters and  five sons-in-law; Ruth Ann Eby of Hagerstown, MD, Mary C. Graybill of Mifflinburg, Ellen L. and Karl B. Forsythe of Mifflinburg, Teresa L. and Marlin Martin of Strasburg, Janice E. and Husband Craig Egli of Mifflinburg, and Lenora J. (Lennie)  and Rodney  (Buck)  Smith of Lewisburg, 35 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, 6 great -great grandchildren with one great- great grandchild on the way, and one daughter-in-law, Emily L. Peachey of Elkton, VA.

She was preceded in death by four brothers; Raymond, Clarence, Glenn, and Walter along with six sisters, Blanche, Ethel, Helen, Anna Lois, Marian, and Doris, one daughter, Ida Mae, one son, Thomas E. Peachey, two daughters-in-law, Jacquita (Englehart) Peachey and Brenda (Metzler) Peachey, two sons-in-law, Lewis Eby, Jr, and Hubert Graybill, a grandson, Ryan Schlegel and a great granddaughter, Jenae Graybill.

At Naomi’s request, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Naomi`s memory may be sent to, American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 636 W. Lexington Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
