Andrew (Andy) Mrusko, 74, of Lewisburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Andy was born on August 29, 1951, in Baltimore, MD, the son of Andrew and Anna Mrusko and brother of Bonnie (Mrusko) Meyers.
He spent more than 25 years working at the University of Maryland as Director of Marketing for the Stamp Student Union, where he loved collaborating with student groups and helping bring their clubs and ideas to life across campus.
Andy had long dreamed of retiring to Lewisburg, and when he finally did, he quickly became a familiar face around downtown. On his daily walks through town, he got to know shop owners and neighbors alike. When winter approached each year, his large, well-loved backyard ferns would make their way into downtown storefronts, where Andy happily found them new seasonal homes.
He had a gift for creating an atmosphere of love and belonging. Music was always playing from his home - most often The Beatles - and the lights were usually low, with martinis and bar snacks ready for whoever might stop by. Friends and family remember evenings on his patio with a boombox in one hand, a Beatles cooler full of Natty Lights in the other, with stories, music, and laughter filling the night.
He was known for his quick (sometimes perfectly inappropriate) humor, the way he made strangers feel like family, and the simple rituals that made him unmistakably Andy: dog treats tucked into his pockets for neighborhood pups, bowls of milk left out for the local cat, and long walks that often ended with a painted rock added to his growing collection of small treasures.
A lifelong lover of music and baseball (Go O’s!), Andy could recall details like the order numbers of classic vinyl from his record store managing days, and his Beatles collection rivaled that of any devoted fan. He enjoyed vodka martinis, classic films, and sitting at the bar at M.R. Ducks in Ocean City, MD.
Above all, Andy adored his children. He is survived by his son Charlie Mrusko; daughter Emily (Mrusko) Gorski; son-in-law Nick Gorski; daughter-in-law Casey (Condon) Mrusko; his former wife and lifelong friend, Cathleen (Flynn) Stenglein; his sister Bonnie (Mrusko) Meyers; and his brother-in-law, Donnie Meyers. His family will remember his sharp wit, his quiet understanding, and the way he made every gathering feel just a little more special.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Andy’s honor to DIG Furniture Bank (digfb.org) or Hilarity for Charity (wearehfc.org).
Andy will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and unmistakable spirit. He will be deeply missed.
“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
