Anna Marie Maurer, 99, of New Berlin passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.
She was born on April 17, 1917 in Limestone Twp, Union County, the daughter of the late Norman Leiby and Adda Jane (Reichley) Herman. On June 18, 1938, she married Kermit Eugene Maurer, who passed away on June 28, 1984.
Anna attended the Turkey Run one-room schoolhouse through 8th grade and graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1935.
She worked as housekeeper and nanny for a nearby family before marriage. After marriage, she helped her husband, who was a funeral director in New Berlin for 40 years. She also worked part-time in the kitchen of the SUN Area Vo-Tech School in New Berlin.
She was a member of Winfield Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and helped with vacation bible school for many years.
Some of her favorite past-times were reading, gardening and crocheting. But her favorite thing was spending time with her family.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Constance and Charles Reidell of Mifflinburg, and one son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Linda Maurer of Winfiled, 4 grandchildren, Robin Davis of Mifflinburg, Jane Case of Mifflinburg, Brian Reidell of Enola and Jasen Maurer of Broomall, 15 great- grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha G. Pontius.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 10 to 11AM on Wednesday at the Dominick T. Adamo Funeral Home, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 11, with the Rev. Leslie Conklin, officiating.
Interment will be in the Kratzerville Cemetery.
