Betty J. Harbach, 97, of Bedford, PA, formerly of Bellwood, PA, entered into rest on Sunday,
March 9, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
Born on June 4, 1927, in Greene Township, Clinton County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Allen E. and Dessie (Douty) Lamey. On March 20, 1948, she was united in marriage to the late Gene C. Harbach.
Betty supported the war effort during World War II by working at Piper Aircraft Corporation in Lock Haven, PA. She retired from the Bellwood-Antis School District as the cafeteria manager.
Betty enjoyed hosting and cooking for family and friends throughout her life.
Surviving are three daughters: Judy A. (Carl) Fairbanks, Marjorie M. (Gary) Burkey, and Jane M. (Curtis) Robinson; four grandchildren: Jonathan (Natalie Nachtman) Cherry, Cathryn Cherry (David) Hood, Krista Cherry (John) Lipchick, and Leah Robinson (Gene) Alessandrini; and eight great-grandchildren: Samuel and Norah Cherry, Dessie and Mabel Hood, and Thomas, Adam, Isaac, and Aaron Lipchick. Betty’s sister, Janet Schreckengast, passed away in 2012.
The family sincerely thanks Betty’s faithful and tireless caregivers and the many nurses and doctors who treated her.
A private burial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society are welcome in lieu of flowers.
