Blaine Allen Poeth, 93, of Broadway Road, Milton passed away at 7:18 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.
He was born on August 18, 1919 in West Milton, the son of the late William Franklin and Grace (Reedy) Poeth. On September 04, 1987, in Milton he married the former Dorothijean Schubert, who survives. Together, they shared 25 years of memories.
Blaine graduated from Milton High School Class of 1938. He also attended Williamsport Technical Institute, where he studied machinist and diesel mechanic courses.
On July 26, 1945 he enlisted in the US Army, 640th Engineers, Maintenance Battalion, Linz Austria, serving until his honorable discharge on July 21, 1946.
Blaine began working as a machinist and mechanic at the Reading Railroad and later was employed at ACF Industries, Milton, as a machinist and mechanic retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milton; Veteran of Foreign Wars Ira B. Baldwin Post # 1665, Milton; American Legion Wallace W. Fetzer Post #71, Milton; and the United Steel Workers.
Blaine enjoyed doing yard work, woodworking, gardening, and being an all around handyman.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Walter B. Poeth of Magalia, CA, Thomas P. and Nancy Poeth of Webster, NY, Donald E. and Kay Poeth of Middleburg, 3 grandchildren, Lindsey Sadoulet, Dr. Kaitlin Poeth, Chad Poeth, 5 great grandchildren, one brother, Francis Poeth of South Williamsport, and one sister, Helen Rowe of Montandon.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen (Guyer) Poeth in 1984, and one brother, William Poeth.
Graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family in Orchard Hills Memorial Park, Shamokin Dam and Harmony Cemetery, Milton, with The Reverend Patricia A. T. Pittsnogle, officiating.
