Cara L. Brouse

March 31, 1944 — February 20, 2024

Cara L. Brouse, 79, of Mifflinburg passed away at the Geisinger Medical center on Wednesday, February 20, 2024. 

Cara was born on March 31, 1944 in Iowa City, a daughter of the late Clarence and Audrey (Smith) Learned. On April 15, 1963. She married Robert O. Brouse Jr, who survives. 

She graduated from English Valley High School in 1962. She attended Kirksville State Teachers College. In her high school days, she detasseled corn in the fields of Iowa. Cara was a teacher's aide at the Buffalo Township Elementary School. She also waitressed at Bechtel's, Arena, and Perkins. She loved serving and helping people. Cara was a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for over forty years. 

She was a member of the Lewisburg Junior's Civic Club serving as its past president and later served on the MHRA Committee. She loved helping with the Chriskindl Market and took pride in her Gingerbread House and Doll House for over 20 years. 

Cara enjoyed meeting friends for coffee, planting flowers and decorating for Christmas, sometimes having a tree in every room. She enjoyed learning to play the piano and painting. Besides working in her yard, Garden City, South Carolina was her second home. She and Bob spent 9 weeks out of the year in their condo at the Kingfisher Inn.

 Surviving in addition to her husband, Bob, are three children: Stacy (and Kimberly) Brouse, Renee (and Dave) Noll, and Sonia (and Chris) Buckley: a brother, Gary; 5 grandchildren: Paul, Cara, Tara, Madison, and Nathan; and 6 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Hevey. 

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. 

She will be interred in the South English Cemetery, Iowa.
