Duwayne Clair Guelich

December 15, 1937 — September 5, 2025

Duwayne Clair Guelich, 87, of Clearfield, entered into eternal rest on September 5, 2025.

He was born on December 15, 1937, in Clearfield, a son of the late Clair and Thelma (Carson) Guelich. On February 26, 1983, at the West Side United Methodist Church, he married the former Jean Fronk, who survives. Together, they shared 43 years of wonderful memories.

Duwayne was a 1955 graduate of Clearfield Area High School. He proudly served in the United States Army and then transferred to the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania, serving as an officer for 18 years.

Duwayne was the founder, owner, and President of D.C. Guelich Explosives, with offices in Clearfield, Somerset, Bloomsburg, and York. He was also the owner of DEBCO Drilling Company and Nobél Insurance Company, retiring in 2008 with the sale of the company.

He was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield Masonic Lodge #314, Clearfield Elks #540, Old Town Sportsman Club, and the Spanky’s Roundtable Breakfast Club.

Duwayne was an avid motorcyclist and a private pilot. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, shooting trap, flying, restoring antique automobiles, and horseback riding. He especially cherished time spent at his hunting camp, Bald Face Lodge, with family and friends. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout North America, chasing whitetail deer, mule deer, elk, moose, caribou, and brown bear. He was a family man and would be sure to include his wife and kids in all of his adventures and hobbies.

Surviving, in addition to his loving and devoted wife Jean, are five children: Dennis C. Guelich of Everett; Dean J. Guelich of St. Augustine, FL; Daniel V. and Kirsten Guelich of Sandy Ridge; Rhonda and Josh Conklin of Winter Garden, FL; and Dominick Todd and Chelsea Adamo of Lewisburg; 12 grandchildren, Shannon, Derek, Jordan, Taylor, Cameron, Payton, Haylee, Emily, Isaac, Kate, Natalie, and Grady; three great-grandchildren, Korie, Althea, and Karter; and three brothers, Charlie Guelich of Clearfield, Calvin (Geri) Guelich of Paynesville, OH, and Larry Guelich of Penn Run, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Gelnett.
