Elaine M. Young

Elaine M. Young (Danowsky), 80, of Millmont, entered into rest on April 18, 2026, at Rolling Hills Manor.

Born on February 22, 1946, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of the late Martin L. Miller and Dorothy E. (Danowsky) Miller.

Elaine was married to George R. “Bob” Young, who survives. Together, they shared many years of love and cherished memories.

Elaine was a graduate of Lewisburg Area High School, Class of 196 4. She was employed over the years at American Home Foods and also worked at the Lewisburg Farmers Market.

She was a member of Dreisbach United Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Elaine enjoyed tending to her flowers and flower beds, traveling, bowling, crafting, and reading. She especially loved music, including artists such as Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley, and enjoyed following her grandchildren’s sporting events, including bowling, football, baseball, and soccer. She was a member of the John Deere Club and the Vintage Ironman Club and cherished family gatherings of all kinds. Elaine was also a breast cancer survivor and participated in Relay for Life walks.

Elaine was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Surviving are her children: Barbara K. (Leroy) Gabel of Lewisburg and Jeffrey A. Aunkst of Lewisburg.

Also surviving are her grandchildren: Austin J. Aunkst and his partner, Vicki Soos, of Williamsport; and Gabriel Gabel and Nathaniel Gabel of Lewisburg.

She is also survived by her stepchildren: Troy Young and his wife, Stacey; Tammy Wood ling; and Terri Pastore and her husband, Mike; six step grandchildren; John (Allison) Zechman, Ceclile Zechman, and Mark Pastore, Morgan (Sam) Steinwedel, Taylor Young, Tyler Young, step-great granddaughter, Betty June Steinwedel; her siblings: Roger A. Miller and his wife, Ruth, and Sherry L. Evans.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry E. Miller; her sister, Dorothy Louise (Miller) Bridge; and her great-grandson, Hunter Aunkst.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Road, Lewisburg, where the memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor John Yost officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elaine’s memory may be sent to Relay for Life or a charity of the donor’s choice.
