Hugh Edward Swartz, 66, of Sunbury entered into rest at : on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at ManorCare Heath Services, Sunbury.

Hugh was an early baby-boomer, the firstborn son of the late Weldon and Betty (Moore) Swartz, coming into the world on January 19, 1949 in Lewisburg.

He attended Buffalo Crossroads Elementary school and was a 1966 graduate of Lewisburg high School.

He worked on the family farm during his childhood and was employed as a factory worker during his working years.

Hugh attended the Black Run Chapel and later was a member of the Lewisburg Foursquare Church.  He loved to sing gospel songs and quote Bible verses which were stored in his excellent memory.  He never forgot a brother or sister’s birthday.  Hugh was the star pitcher of the church softball team.  He was the first of the siblings to own a car and often toted his younger brothers and sisters around.  He had many challenges in his life which he met with resiliency and admirable zeal.

Hugh is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Nevin Walter of Mifflinburg and a son, Kevin of Sunbury.  He has two grandchildren, Josh and Abigail.

He is also survived by six brothers and four sisters: James and wife Cheryl, Wayne and wife Patsy, Mary and Dennis all of Lewisburg; Brenda of New Columbia; Kaye Harrison of Lakewood, CO; Barry and wife Linda of Lewisburg; Scott and wife Michele of Enola; Earl and Belinda and Dixie and husband John Paladino of Lewisburg as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation from 6:30 to 7:00 pm on Monday at the Dominick T. Adamo Funeral Home, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg where the memorial service will be conducted at 7.

Memorial contributions in Hugh’s memory may be sent to Children's Mircle Network at Geisinger Hospital, 100 North Academy Avenue, Danville, Pennsylvania 17822.
