James K. Boyer, Sr., 75, of 4380 Furnace Road, Lewisburg, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his residence.
He was born February 13, 1942 in Hartley Township, a son of the late Solomon and Lydia (Oyster) Boyer. On May 18, 2001 at Driesbach United Church of Christ he married the former Nancy Miller, who survives.
Jim was a member of the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg.
Jim worked as a mason by trade.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Lisa and Ralph Davis of New Columbia, Stacey and Tony Reich of Dewart and one son Jimmy K. Boyer of Middleburg, two grandchildren, Courtney Haas and Blaine Haas and wife Brittany, two great grandchildren, Kale Yost and Addie Haas, and one stepson, Edwin C. Miller Jr., of Lewisburg.
Jim is also survived by the following siblings, Betty Jordan of Philadelphia, Shirley Libby of Mifflinburg,
Mary Lloyd of Mifflinburg, Kathryn and husband Ken Beaver of Lewisburg, Donald Boyer of Mifflinburg and Bob and wife Alverna Boyer of Hartleton, one brother-in-law Paul Hollenbach of Winfield and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son John David and the following siblings and their
spouses, Mildred and Marlin Wenrick, Marie Gift, Hilda and Eugene Sheesley, Junior Boyer, William Boyer, Grace Hollenbach and Milford who died in infancy.
Jim was a quiet man and very kind and helpful to others. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was often with his buddies fishing at R. B. Winter State Park, as well as the family cabin during hunting season.
He and his wife traveled with friends extensively throughout the United States, several cruises including a 15 day cruise thru the Panama Canal and visited several countries in South America as well as Costa Rica and Cayman Islands. He and his wife enjoyed golfing and traveled to various destinations to golf in the winter.
Jim was a member of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #194 of Selinsgrove as well as a past member of Zembo Shrine Harrisburg and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Harrisburg. As long as his health was good, he participated with events in Harrisburg which benefited the Shriners Children hospital in Philadelphia.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 12 to 1 pm on Saturday at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Rd, Lewisburg, where a Masonic service conducted by Masons of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #194 of Selinsgrove will begin 1 pm, the funeral service will follow with Pastor Nathan J. Druckenmiller, officiating.
Interment will be in the Dreisbach Church Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and donations can be made in Jim’s memory, to the Shriners Hospital for Children Philadelphia, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia Pa, 19140 or to Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837 or to the charity of one’s choice.
