Joseph Edgar Hoffman, 80, of Mifflinburg, peacefully entered into rest on June 24, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on August 23, 1944, in Dauphin County, a son of the late Carl Joseph and Esther Elizabeth (Cassell) Hoffman. He was previously married to the late Sheryl Jane Hoffman.
On May 7, 2016, in Toronto, Canada, he married Irene Joyce (Smith) Douglas, who survives.
Joseph was a talented sculptor whose work was commissioned by renowned companies including Danbury Mint, Hamilton Mint, Franklin Mint, Salvino Sports Figures, and Hershey Foods. In his later years, he particularly enjoyed sculpting ducks and birds, combining his artistic skills with his appreciation for nature. He was also a member of the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving in addition to his wife Irene are his children: James E. and Jill Novesal of Mt. Airy, MD; Joseph E. and Heather Hoffman of Redfield, MI; Chrissy and Shawn Meyer of Mifflinburg; Laurie Allen; and Jackie Glass.
Also surviving are his sisters, Carol J. Hoffman of Annville and Joyce E. Miller of Camp Hill; and his grandchildren: Ethan, Andrew, Tony, Amanda, Kayla, Lindsay, Lainey and her husband Rem, Christian, Joshua, and Anna.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian K. Novesal, and grandson, Matthew Brian.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, located at 12 East Market Street, Mifflinburg. A memorial service to honor Joseph’s life will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Wayne S. Krell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, 12 East Market Street, Mifflinburg, PA 17844.
