Joseph V. Lyons, 84, of Mifflinburg, PA, entered into rest at 4:51 PM, on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at his residence surround by family.

He was born on November 18, 1929 in Catskill, NY, a son of the late Joseph V. Lyons, Sr. and Lula (Bagortes) Lyons.

Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948, serving 6 years in Bamberg, Germany during the Korean War.  Following his honorable discharge in 1953, he returned to Catskill, NY, and began working on the building the N.Y. State Northway.  He then moved to N.J., and worked at Central Cadillac, Newark for over 12 years, and drove for Kosher Butches and Torres Construction.   He moved Tunkhannock, PA in 1985, where he worked for Wyoming County New Age Examiner Paper, retiring due to health reasons.

Joe was an avid bowler.  He also was a supporter and lifetime associate member of Catskill Hose Company #1 Catskill, NY.

Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Truman and Joyce June of Catskill, 10 nephews, 2 nieces and their children.  Blanche A. Rudolf, his companion of 39 years, and her children, Thomas Gorski, Marlene Perkosky of Mifflinburg, and Valerie Burleson of North Carolina, step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Phil Smith, William Lyons, Edwin Lyons, three sisters, Jeanie Mae Swart, Shirley Patterson, Margaret McKern.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
