Kury A. Bartholomew

Kury A. Bartholomew, 60, of 521 Furnace Road, Lewisburg went to be with his creator at 7:00 PM on Friday, May 4, 2012 at his homestead.

He was born on June 7, 1951 in Bethlehem, the son of the late Ed and Alice Keeler Pettit.

Kury grew up in Sunbury and attended Sunbury schools.

Kury had a band "Blue Moon" for thirty years playing 50 & 60"s music. Kury spent his time doing yard work, making ponds, loved his animals of all kinds.

Kury or Makwa (Native) was very involved in his native culture; he was a promoter and a MC for three different pow-wows during the summer. Makwa was Chief of his Native tribe, and was highly respected; he will be sadly missed.

Surviving are three sons; Michael Bartholomew of Pottsville, Thomas Bartholomew of Southern PA, Jason Bartholomew of Canton, one daughter, Betty B. Jursey of Bloomsburg, one brother; Barry R. Pettit of Bloomsburg, and his loving companion, Vicki Kitchen of Lewisburg. Also, numerous native brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Jean Pettit, two brothers, David and Bobby Pettit.

Family and friends are invited to his life celebration on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the family homestead, 521 Furnace Road, Lewisburg, with Daniel C. Jones and Barry Pettit, officiating.

The family welcomes cards and flowers, which may be sent to the homestead.
