Margaret Kathleen Rager Camp—known to all who loved her simply as Marge—was born on October 1, 1948, to Randolph and Coretta Dean Rager. Marge was one of six children. She is survived by her beloved sisters, Joanne Eileen Rager Riden. Bonnie Lee Rager Englehardt, Marge, raised in the McClure area, grew into a woman of deep conviction who stood firmly in her beliefs, unwavering in her principles. She had a deep compassion with a heart to serve others.
Margaret graduated from West Snyder High School in 1966, where she excelled academically and was especially gifted in shorthand—a skill that marked the beginning of a life of service.
Margaret began her career in 1966 at Laurelton State Center as Secretary to the head accountant in the Revenue Department. Her work ethic, precision, and dependability were evident from the start. Later, her heart for others led her to CSIU, where she lovingly cared for individuals with developmental disabilities. That same heart ultimately called her into nursing.
Never one to shy away from hard work or late nights, Margaret earned her LPN at Washingtonville LPN School while studying alongside her daughters, Kelly and Kimberly. At the age of 53, she reached a milestone few attempt and even fewer achieve—graduating from Pennsylvania College of Technology with her Registered Nursing degree, with her daughter Kori. Nursing was not just her profession; it was an extension of who she was.
In 1966, Margaret married her sweetheart and lifelong love, Donald “Donnie” Edward Camp. They were blessed with three daughters: Kelly (Kevin Forry), Kimberly(Brian Kozicki), and Kori (Christopher Bingaman). Margaret’s greatest earthly joy was her family—particularly her grandchildren, Kolby, Kayla, Mikel, Benjamin, and Blaike, and her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Roland, with baby Adeline soon to be welcomed. She was preceded in death by a dearly loved grandson, Lucas
She also had a special place in her heart for their chocolate lab, Trapper, who never missed a treat when Marge was nearby.
Margaret and Donnie shared a love for the simple joys of life—camping, spending many seasons at Howard Lake in Howard, Pennsylvania, where they often served as campsite hosts. Home was where Margaret shined brightest. Around her dinner table, family and loved ones gathered, laughter was shared, and hearts and bellies were filled. Her homemade ham potpie became legendary, a symbol of her love and hospitality. In season, she and Donnie harvested their garden, canned its abundance, and shared generously with their girls and grandchildren.
A member of Christ Community Church, Margaret’s love for the Lord was evident as she worshiped Him through song, with a beautiful voice, and was often invited to sing as a soloist at weddings, especially The Lord’s Prayer.
Through her example, each of her daughters came to know and love the Lord.
Throughout her battle with cancer, Margaret remained anchored in faith. God’s faithfulness was evident time and again, and often her own voice could be heard giving praise and glory to Him, even in the midst of suffering. The Scripture she clung to most was Psalm 23—a reflection of the Shepherd she trusted all her life.
Margaret lived with the blessed assurance of someone who knew where she was going. Her hope was not in this world, but in the promise of eternity. We take comfort in knowing that she has now entered her heavenly home, welcomed by her Savior—His arms open wide. In her memory, we echo the beloved hymn she so often sang, “Beyond the Sunset,” trusting that she has now crossed into the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly and has been welcomed home.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want… Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” — Psalm 23.
The family will hold a private celebration of life service in honor of Marge.
