Martha A. Girvin, 85, of Mifflinburg passed away at 08:16 PM on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Evangelical Community Hospital.
She was born on February 05, 1933 in Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late Dayton Leroy and Dorothy Mae (Scholls) Walls. On May 25, 1951 in Elkton, MD, she married Robert Clair "Curly" Girvin who passed away on February 23, 2008. Together, they shared 57 years of memories.
Marty attended Mifflinburg Schools, and the Career Training Institute in Richmond, VA.
She along with her husband and son owned and operated a restaurant and lounge known as Bobetts, in Tyrone, PA for several years. In 1987 she moved back to Mifflinburg to spend quality time with family.
Marty was an avid bowler. She and her brother-in-law became bowling instructors for kids and went into the Chester High School in Virginia to promote bowling and give instruction.
She was a former Past-President and served on the Board of Directors of the Mifflinburg Woman’s Bowling Association. She was also inducted into their Hall of Fame.
Marty always liked to assist and help promote veterans causes.
She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, bowling and music. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her son, and grandsons, Bobby and Chase. As well as her companion, Jack.
Surviving are one son Robert Clair Girvin, Jr. and his companion Brenda Aikey of Mifflinburg, two grandchildren, Robert C. Girvin of Mifflinburg, Chase H. Girvin of Mifflinburg; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Fred Allen of Mauldin, SC, Jean and Donald Walls of Mifflinburg, Dorothy and Douglas Leitzel of Selinsgrove, Kay and David Keister of Mifflinburg, Sandra and Shawn Shoemaker of Mifflinburg; two brothers, Donald and Barbara Walls of AZ, and Kenneth and Wilma Walls of New Columbia. Also surviving is her companion, Jack Crain of Mifflinburg and several nieces and nephews and step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Walls, Dayton Walls, Jr., Dale Walls, William Walls, one sister, Velma Irene Troup, and a stepdaughter, Betty Lou Girvin Loudenslager.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday and from 10 AM to 11 AM on Friday at Adamo’s, 16 Walnut Street, Mifflinburg where the funeral will be held at 11 AM, with the Rev. Ricky Phillips, officiating.
Interment will be in the Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
