Mary Elizabeth Dale

October 10, 1923 — March 8, 2024

Mary E. Dale (nee Wise), 100 , formerly of Mifflinburg and Middleburg, and more recently of Riverwoods Senior Living Community, Lewisburg, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg. 

Born October 10, 1923 in Mifflinburg, PA, Mary was the daughter of the late Ward E. and Harriet B. (Musser) Wise and was a 1941 graduate of Mifflinburg High School. In her early years, she worked in her father's store, Wise Electric Appliance. Mary was married to her late husband, Kermit W. Dale, for 39 years. During her years as the wife of a PA Game Commission Wildlife Conservation Officer and Land Manager, Mary lived in Chambersburg and later Middleburg and was an active homemaker and the proud mother of two sons. She was also employed for several years by Benner's Bakery of Middleburg and 16 years with the Middleburg School District. 

Mary Elizabeth loved music and dancing. She also enjoyed reading, watching TV and doing needlepoint, going on picnics with her friends, visiting the seashore, and spending time with her family and friends. But she was most proud of raising her sons.

She had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Wesley United Methodist Church of Mifflinburg. She was also involved in the establishment of the Kermit W. & Mary E. Dale and Sons Environmental Conservation Award, (now part of the Mifflinburg Area Community Scholarship Trust, Inc.), that provides an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior from Mifflinburg High School who will be attending college and majoring in an environmental field. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by two brothers, Bruce W. of Mifflinburg and Harold M. (and sister-in-law Elva) of Lewisburg. 

She is survived by her son Stephen of Harrisburg and grandson Mark of Selinsgrove, and son Jon and wife Diana and grandson Alex of Dillsburg. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary Dale Wehr and Rhelda Dale Valentine of Mifflinburg and many nieces and nephews. 

At the request of the decedent, there will be no service or memorial. Burial at Mifflinburg Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the immediate family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary's name may be sent to one's favorite charity or organization.
