Mary Elizabeth Dunkle, 92, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at her residence.
Born on February 12, 1934, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Ruhl) Kerstetter. On April 1, 1955, she married John Dunkle, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2022. Together they shared 67 years of wonderful memories, including traveling throughout America on their motorcycle, attending many country concerts, and spending time with family.
Throughout her youth, Mary (fondly known as Lib) was an avid horseback rider who owned several horses, and was also a great trumpet player and athlete, who played basketball for the Mifflinburg girls team. She was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School in the class of 1955.
After, Mary enjoyed being a local socialite, fantastic bowler, and devoted Friday night poker/pinochle player - often playing with her close friend groups in town. She was generous and gave to many causes she believed in, such as M.A.D.D. and St. Jude Children’s. Mary was a great cook and baker, loved watching rodeos and listening to country music, and following Mifflinburg football. She was also a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.
She is survived by her two sons and their wives: Blaine and Karen Dunkle of Mifflinburg, and Blair and Melissa Dunkle of Selinsgrove; five grandchildren; Alexa Rae (Dunkle) Davidson and her husband, Niels Davidson; Brady Dunkle and his wife, Rhea Fowler; Brandon Dunkle and his fiancée, Deanna; Spencer Dunkle and his girlfriend, Sydney; Olivia Dunkle and her boyfriend, Cooper; one sister-in-law, Margie Dunkle; and nine nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Vance Dunkle and Bill Dunkle; one brother, Bill Kerstetter; and one sister, Marie Appel.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Market Street, Mifflinburg, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Curt Wingert officiating.
Burial will be in Mifflinburg Cemetery.
