Mary S. Herman

Mary S. Herman, 99, of Mifflinburg entered into eternal rest 4:40 pm on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont.

She was born on June 15, 1913 in Oneida Township, Huntingdon County, a daughter of the late Forrie and Mary (Crownover) Snyder. On June 23, 1934, in Huntingdon she married R. Clair Jacka, who passed away on May 11, 1963. She remarried Custer Mench Herman who preceded her in death on April 5, 1999.

Mrs. Herman was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.

Mary was employed at the Huntingdon Throwing Mill, Huntingdon, from 1925 to 1943. She then moved to Mifflinburg in 1943 and continued to work at the mills Mifflinburg operation until her retirement in 1977.

She enjoyed having dinner and spending time with family, and traveling.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Clair and Carol Jacka of Mifflinburg; one step daughter, Lois Boop of Mifflinburg; four grandchildren, Andrea Long of Mifflinburg, Vicki Jacka of Mifflinburg, Roberta Wagner and Husband Terry of Millmont, David Jacka and wife Kathy of Mifflinburg; three step grandchildren, Denny Stevens of Palmyra, Donna Brobst and husband Dan of Mifflinburg, Craig Boop of Mifflinburg; eight great-grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, four step great-great granchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers, one step daughter, Faye Stevens and her husband Jack, an a step son-in-law Gene Boop.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 2:30 to 3:30 pm on Saturday at the Dominick T. Adamo Funeral Home, 247 Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 3:30, with The Rev. Kris L. Brown and The Rev. Vickie L. Brown, Pastor's of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.


Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery, Mifflinburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary`s memory may be sent to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market Street, Mifflinburg or American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.
