Mary S. Peterec

Mary Peterec, cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on February 28, 2026, at the age of 84. 

Mary grew up in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. It is there that she met her husband of 67 years, Richard Peterec. From New Hampshire to New York to Pennsylvania, Mary and Richard built a life focused on each other and their five daughters.

Mary was known in her family and her circle of friends as a gracious host, a valued companion, and a wonderful cook. She was a warm person who made those around her feel welcome. 

Mary is survived by her daughters Gretchen (Gonzalo), Ingrid (Joe), Martha, Kristen (Achim) and Sarah (Lenny); eleven grandchildren: Anya, Alexander, Elizabeth, Sebastian, Fabian, Tobias, Catherine, Sara, Antonia, Joseph, and Gabriel; her sisters Jane and Betty (David); and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Richard and her parents, Ernest and Eleanor Spongberg.
