Richard D. Maurer

Richard D. "Dick" Maurer, 88, of Mifflinburg entered into rest on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at his residence.

Born on September 19, 1935 in Winfield, a son of the late Mervin L. and Miriam (Hollenbach) Maurer. On December 31, 1955, in Cowan he married the former Nancy Herman, who preceded him in death.

Dick retired from Red Star Trucking working as a mechanic. Earlier in life he worked for Pennsylvania House Furniture and Hall's Trucking.

He was a member and past master of the Mifflinburg Masonic Lodge 370 F&M, a member of Harrisburg Perseverance Lodge #21 F&M, member of Milton Royal Arch Chapter # 298, member of Valley of Harrisburg Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, a 32nd Degree Mason, past master, usher, and treasurer of Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg. Dick was a life member of Buffalo Valley Sportsman's club, member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a life member of Loyal Order of Moose.

He loved to hunt and travel to the beach with family and walk the boardwalk. He spent a lot of his time volunteering with the Harrisburg Masons even up until the past year.

Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and David Schley of Mifflinburg, 4 grandchildren, David Schley, Amanda Barbour, Corey Gibney, Coutney Feaser, 9 great grandchildren, two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Jane Wagner of Lewisburg, Patty Ann and Jack Ranck of Washingtonville, one son-in-law, Butch Gibney of New Bloomfield, and a sister-in-law, Dolores Maurer of Sunbury.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Dena Gibney, one son, Wayne Maurer, one brother, Robert Maurer, and a brother-in-law, Marvin Wagner.

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 10-11 am on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Adamo Funeral Home, 16 Walnut Street, Mifflinburg, where a masonic service will begin at 11 followed by the service with Rev. Paul L. Kampa.

Interment with full military honors accorded by veterans of Mifflinburg American Legion and Mifflinburg VFW will be in the New Berlin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's memory may be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
