Wendell Marlyn Smith

Wendell Marlyn Smith, 86, of Seminole, FL formerly of New Berlin, PA passed away at 2:21 PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Pacifca Senior Living Center, Clearwater, FL.

He was born on June 18, 1926 in New Berlin, the son of the late Bruce M. and L. Catherine (Spangler) Smith. On March 07, 1951, he married the former Betty Mae Shultz, who passed away on September 11, 1987.

Wendell attended Lewisburg Area High School.

Mr. Smith enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944; where he earned the rank of Master Sgt working in the financial department. He served honorably until retirement in 1965. Then in 1969 he began working at the Susquehanna University Bookstore as store manager, until his retirement in 1989.

Wendell was a member of the Fort Knox Masonic Lodge #550 F&AM, Fort Knox, KY, a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, and the American Legion Post #957, New Berlin.

Wendell enjoyed operating his Ham radio.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. and Barbara Ann Smith of Seminole, FL, one grandson, Mark Wendell Smith, granddaughter, Thea Marie Smith.

Private graveside services with full military honors accorded by Veterans of the Mifflinburg American Legion Post #410 were held in the New Berlin Cemetery.
