Catharine M. Nentwig, 90, formerly of Peachwood Drive, Lewisburg passed away December 30, 2020, at RiverWoods, where she had resided since 2015. We have lost the sweetest mother, mother-in-law, grandma, sister and friend anyone could have.
Born on March 2, 1930, in Maytown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harold & Lillian (Fletcher) Engle.
She was a 1948 graduate of Donegal High School. On May 27, 1950 she married E. Jack Nentwig, and they shared 66 years of marriage before his death in 2016. In 1974 they moved to Lewisburg from Lancaster County to follow Jack's job.
Before moving to Lewisburg, she had been employed as a secretary at the Marietta Army Depot in Marietta, and at the Fuller Company in Manheim. She was also a head cook at the East Petersburg Elementary School.
Catharine was among one of the first members of Lewisburg Alliance Church. During her years at the church, she served as a deaconess, and as a past president of the Women's Missionary Prayer Fellowship (WMPF), which later became the Alliance Women.
She enjoyed reading and she loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
Surviving are two sons, Jack of Milton and Joel (Sue) of New Berlin; a grandson, Todd of Charleston, SC; a sister, Dorothy (Stuart) Meade of Long Island, NY; a niece and nephew and their families.
She was predeceased by a son, Randall in childhood.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the service will be private with Rev. Les Conklin, founding pastor of Lewisburg Alliance Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Lewisburg Alliance Church, 137 Supplee Mill Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837 and designated for the Great Commission Fund (GCF).
