Janet Louise Rakerd, 78, of Mifflinburg, was called home by God at 11:00 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Evangelical Community Hospital.
Born on October 14, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant Mills, a daughter of the late Russell E. and Iona (Varner) Sierer. On May 5, 1963, she married Merle Leon Rakerd, who survives.
She was a graduate of Middleburg High School.
Janet was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, where she was active teaching Bible and Sunday school classes.
She enjoyed doing crafts, gardening, and volunteering at local nursing homes.
Surviving in addition to her husband is one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Deanna Rakerd of Millmont, two daughters and son-in-law, Lisa and Thomas Aversa of Cogan Station, Tina Rakerd of Mifflinburg, four grandchildren, Melanie and Valerie Rakerd, Desiree and Tommy Aversa, two brothers, Larry Sierer of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Greg Sierer of Mt. Pleasant Mills, and one sister, Deb Shaffer of Mt. Pleasant Mills.
Family and Friends are invited to attend the viewing from 10 to 11 am on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Church, 2349 Old Turnpike Rd, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 11, with Pastor John Yost, officiating.
Interment will be in Dreisbach Cemetery.
